The next day, take a boat tour around historic Bay Bulls, stopping at the province’s oldest-standing lighthouse for a vivacious, music-filled traditional Newfoundland kitchen party. Day 1
St. John’s – Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg to St. John’s. Upon arrival, meet your tour director and transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

St. John’s – Tour Canada’s oldest city, St. John’s. See Quidi Vidi village and Signal Hill. B

St. John’s – Excursion to Bay Bulls with boat tour and stop at Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site. Later, your Extraordinary Experience: A traditional East Coast kitchen party. B/D

Clarenville – En route to Clarenville, visit Hawthorne Cottage National Historic site, Harbour Grace and Heart’s Content Cable Station Provincial Historic Site. B/D

Saint-Pierre and Miquelon – Transfer to the village of Fortune and take the ferry to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Upon arrival, walk to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. B/D
Day 6
Saint-Pierre – Depart to L’Île-aux-Marins by ferry and take a guided walking tour of the Island. An optional visit to L’Arche Museum and Archives is included. B

Saint-Pierre – Depart to Miquelon Island by ferry for a half-day island tour. B/L/D

St. John’s – In the morning, tour the picturesque island of Saint-Pierre. Later, fly back to St. John’s and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. B/D

Day 1
Toronto or Winnipeg to St. John’s
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg to St. John’s, upon arrival at St. John’s International Airport meet your tour director and transfer to hotel for three night stay.
Day 2
St. John’s
Be immersed in the history and culture of St. John’s, Canada’s oldest and most distinctive city, while on a morning tour. Rising spectacularly from the water’s edge, St. John’s combines a modern city with small town hospitality. See the quaint side streets of a thousand colours, the Victorian architecture of the downtown area, the busy modern waterfront, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Statue of the Blessed Mother, Confederation Building, charming Quidi Vidi village and the panoramic view from Signal Hill.
Return to your hotel where the rest of the day is free to explore on your own. (B)
Day 3
St. John’s
This morning, travel to Bay Bulls for one of the highlights of your trip, a boat tour to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve (weather permitting). Witless Bay is alive with the rhythm of four million wings beating and of 40 tonne whales pulsing through clear blue water. The reserve contains North America's largest Atlantic puffin colony more than 260,000 pairs of the province's official bird nest here during the late spring and summer. The reserve also hosts the second-largest Leach's storm-petrel colony in the world. More than 620,000 pairs come here to nest. The waters around Bay Bulls and the Reserve are a favourite feeding area for the annual migration of the humpback whales that make their way to the waters of Newfoundland each summer. All of your senses will be delighted during an educational and entertaining boat tour.
Later, visit the most easterly point of land in North America, Cape Spear National Historic Site, with the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland. It has been restored to its 1839 appearance and shows how a lightkeeper and his family might have lived in the mid19th century. Tonight, experience a traditional east coast kitchen party (B/D)
Day 4
Clarenville
Depart St. John’s this morning as you set off to explore the Baccalieu Trail on the peninsula between Conception Bay and Trinity Bay. Stop in the charming village of Brigus and visit Hawthorne Cottage National Historic Site, home of Captain Bob Bartlett, the ice pilot who guided Robert Peary on his polar expedition in 1908. Also visit Harbour Grace, where Amelia Earhart began her solo flight across the Atlantic in 1932. Visit Heart’s Content Cable Station Provincial Historic Site where the first successful transatlantic cable was received in 1866. Make your way to the Clarenville area where you will stay the night. Day 5
St. Pierre
In the morning, depart Clarenville and head south onto the beautiful Burin Peninsula via the famous “Heritage Run’ route. Travel to the village of Fortune, where you’ll catch the ferry to the French Islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon. These two groups of islands with a fascinating Maritime history and European feel, are a part of France off the coast of Newfoundland. French is the primary language, plus you’ll find French food, customs and currency. Upon arrival in Saint-Pierre walk to your hotel where you will stay the next three nights. (B/D)
Day 6
St. Pierre
Take a short ferry ride to L’lle Aux Marins. Upon arrival you will take a guided walk, learn about the heyday of the Grand Banks and inshore fisheries. Visit some of the island’s historical buildings (the Museum Archipelitude, the church,) to see photos and artifacts from the past. Hear stories that will make this a memorable moment of your visit to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon. Upon return to St. Pierre, visit the museum of L’arche. (B)
Day 7
St. Pierre
Full day tour to Miquelon Island
Full day tour to the island of Miquelon; connected to Langlade by a 7.5 mile long sand isthmus (called the Dune), which was the scene of many shipwrecks. Since the 19th century, these islands have become the center of the archipelago’s crop and animal- based agricultural activities, in addition to an important coastal fishing spot. Scallops, lobster, goose and duck foie grass – there’s an abundance of delicious specialty foods on these islands! If you’re looking for tranquility, hiking and nature observation, you’ll want to discover Miquelon-Langlade, a little paradise rich in plant and animal life, with endless landscapes studded with ponds, beaches and hills. Come observe the breathtaking natural scenery. (B/L/D)
Day 8
St. John’s
This morning you’ll take a bus tour of the island of Saint-Pierre. The guide, passionate about their island, will introduce you to the history, geography, culture and the people of Saint-Pierre and its surroundings.
Later this afternoon, depart from St. Pierre and Miquelon by ferry and motor coach transfer to St. John’s. Upon arrival in St. John’s, transfer to your hotel where you will be staying one last night on the Island of Newfoundland & Labrador. (B/D)

St. John’s
Say goodbye to your tour director as you transfer to the St John’s Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)
