Day 1
Halifax
Depart Toronto onboard CAA's exclusive private charter jet to Halifax. Upon arrival, meet your kilted tour director and driver. Transfer by coach to your downtown hotel for a three-night stay. This evening, join your group for a welcome reception at Pier 21. Enjoy a tour of the museum followed by a welcome dinner at Rudolph P. Bratty Hall. (D)
Day 2
Halifax
Travel to Peggy’s Cove, one of the most picturesque fishing villages along the Eastern seaboard. Witness the crashing surf and see the world-famous lighthouse perched on top of a rocky bluff. The tiny harbour is dotted with colourful fishing boats and rows of weathered fish sheds—making it no surprise that Peggy’s Cove is one of the most photographed places in Canada. Later, head to the equally charming Mahone Bay and stop to take a photograph of one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic cultural scenes, the trinity of 19th century-built churches. Continue on to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg. Stroll through the colourful old town on a guided walking tour. (B)
Day 3
Halifax
This morning, take an exclusive tour of the Halifax Citadel with a member of the Highlander Regiment. Experience what it’s like to be a member of the Highlander Regiment. Set majestically upon a hill overlooking the city, the Halifax Citadel is part of a series of forts that protected Halifax Harbour from 1749 to 1906. The Citadel was so strategically important that it was rebuilt three times over the centuries—yet it was never once attacked. After a group lunch, enjoy the remainder of the day to explore Halifax at your leisure. (B/L)
Day 4
Charlottetown
Today, start your journey to Charlottetown, driving through the communities of Shubenacadie and Truro along the way. Board the ferry in Caribou and sail to Wood Islands, PEI. Continue to your hotel in Charlottetown and enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure. (B)
Day 5
Charlottetown
Spend your day at leisure or join a full day tour of the island. The day trip is included in your tour.
Travel to the island’s beautiful North Shore for a visit to the world-famous Green Gables Heritage Place. This charming white house with green trim was the inspiration for the setting in author Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic Anne of Green Gables. Visit Prince Edward Island National Park, renowned for its red sandstone cliffs, fine white sand beaches and rolling sand dunes. Stop at PEI Preserves for a taste of their gourmet local preserves. Later, travel to The Dunes Studio Gallery & Café to view fine art from the Maritimes and around the world. (B)
Day 6
Souris
History comes alive when you stroll through Charlottetown’s historic district. During your walking tour, a member of the Confederation Players—a troupe of costumed guides trained as living Fathers and Ladies of Confederation—will entertain and enlighten you with stories and vignettes from the city’s colourful past. Later, stop for lunch at Dalvay by the Sea en route to Chef Michael Smith’s own Inn at Bay Fortune for a two-night stay. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Souris
Enjoy a morning at leisure. This afternoon, experience your meet-and-greet with Chef Michael Smith, PEI’s food ambassador and a celebrity chef. In addition to his culinary skills, Chef Michael is Canada’s best-selling cookbook author, an innkeeper and an educator. Take a tour of the Inn at Bay Fortune’s culinary farm, which produces over 200 different fruits and vegetables every year. Enjoy two foodie events hosted by Chef Michael—an oyster hour and the FireWorks Feast, an immersive multi-course experience. (B/D)
