Immerse yourself in the beauty of Croatia on this 10-Travel across Iceland at a time of year when the landscapes feel especially dramatic and the nights bring the possibility of Northern Lights overhead. Over 9 days, you’ll explore the country’s north, east and south regions with stops at glacier lagoons, volcanic craters, waterfalls and black-sand beaches. Along the way, watch for whales near Akureyri, relax in the Mývatn Nature Baths and visit Jökulsárlón, where icebergs drift slowly across bright blue water. With each day bringing something completely different to see, this tour offers a closer look at the landscapes and everyday life that make Iceland unlike anywhere else.

Excursions will include walking and standing for extended periods, walking tours on uneven surfaces or trails, more actively inclined itineraries and may include coach, boat and rail travel.

Geothermal Tasting Experience

Awe-inspiring Iceland & Northern Lights
Chase the Northern Lights across Iceland while exploring waterfalls, glacier lagoons, and dramatic volcanic landscapes over 9 mesmerizing days.
Day 1
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg on an overnight flight to Keflavík International Airport.
Day 2
Reykjavik – Arrive in Iceland, meet your local guide and transfer to the Viking Museum for breakfast. Afterward, unwind at the geothermal Sky Lagoon spa with lunch before transferring to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B/L)
Day 3
Akureyri – Travel through Borgarnes and visit the historic Glaumbær turf farmhouse and folk museum. Journey through dramatic fjords and mountain passes en route to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland. Evening at leisure. (B/S)
Day 4
Lake Mývatn – Explore Akureyri before enjoying a whale-watching excursion. Continue east to Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods,” then discover the volcanic landscapes of Lake Mývatn, including lava formations at Kálfaströnd, pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir and the volcanic cone Hverfjall. Relax in the mineral-rich Mývatn Nature Baths before an evening search for the Northern Lights. (B/S)
Day 5
Fáskrúðsfjörður – Visit the lava formations of Dimmuborgir and the geothermal area of Námaskarð, where bubbling mud pools and mineral-rich earth create striking landscapes. Travel east through remote highlands toward the Eastfjords. (B/S)
Day 6
Öræfi – Enjoy a day immersed in the Eastfjords, with picturesque fishing villages and winding coastal scenery. Visit a stone and mineral collection before continuing south to Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. At Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, cruise among drifting icebergs on an included boat tour, weather permitting. (B/S)
Day 7
Hella – Journey along the southern edge of Vatnajökull National Park, crossing the Eldhraun lava field and coastal plains framed by glaciers and cliffs. Experience the Icelandic Lava Show before visiting Reynisfjara black-sand beach near Vík. Continue to Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Northern Lights sightings may be possible this evening. Day 8
Reykjavik – Explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle. Visit Friðheimar farm to learn about Icelandic horses and enjoy a geothermal tasting. Continue to the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall before visiting Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Return to Reykjavík for a brief city tour. (B/T/D)

Transfer to Keflavík International Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 2
Reykjavik
Arrive in Iceland, meet your local guide and transfer to the Viking Museum, where a hearty Icelandic breakfast awaits. Afterward, unwind at the stunning Sky Lagoon, a modern geothermal spa inspired by Icelandic nature and tradition. Enjoy lunch at the Sky Café before transferring to your hotel in Reykjavík. Remainder of the day is at leisure. (B/L)
Day 3
Akureyri
Travel west through the charming town of Borgarnes before continuing north. Visit Glaumbær, a beautifully preserved turf farmhouse and folk museum offering a glimpse into Iceland’s past. Journey through dramatic fjords and over mountain passes en route to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland. Overnight in Akureyri, with the evening free to explore at your leisure. (B/S)
Day 4
Lake Mývatn
Start the day exploring Akureyri, known for its charming streets and sweeping views of Eyjafjörður fjord. Enjoy a whale‑watching excursion before heading east to the magnificent Goðafoss, known as the “Waterfall of the Gods.” Continue to the surreal landscapes of Lake Mývatn, discovering lava formations at Kálfaströnd, pseudo‑craters at Skútustaðir and the volcanic cone Hverfjall. End the day soaking in the mineral‑rich waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. As night falls, venture out in search of the enchanting Northern Lights. (B/S)
Day 5
Fáskrúðsfjörður
Explore the dramatic lava labyrinth of Dimmuborgir, known as the “Dark Castles,” steeped in folklore and mystery. Continue to the steaming geothermal area of Námaskarð, where bubbling mud pools and colourful mineral deposits create an otherworldly scene. Travel east through remote highlands and lunar‑like landscapes on your way to the Eastfjords. (B/S)
Day 6
Öræfi
Enjoy a day immersed in the striking beauty of the Eastfjords, with picturesque fishing villages nestled along twisting coastal roads. Visit an impressive stone and mineral collection before continuing south to Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. Conclude at the unforgettable Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, where icebergs drift serenely across blue waters. A boat tour among the icebergs is included, weather permitting, and seals may be spotted swimming nearby. (B/S)
Day 7
Hella
Journey along the southern edge of Vatnajökull National Park, home to Iceland’s highest peaks and vast wilderness. Cross the Eldhraun lava field and sweeping coastal plains framed by glaciers and cliffs. Experience the Icelandic Lava Show, witnessing real molten lava up close. Continue to the black‑sand beach of Reynisfjara near Vík, followed by visits to the iconic Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, where a path leads behind cascading water. Northern Lights sightings may be possible in the evening. (B/S)
Day 8
Reykjavik
Discover Iceland’s most famous sights along the Golden Circle. Visit Friðheimar farm to learn about their Icelandic horses and explore a geothermal greenhouse. Enjoy a unique geothermal tasting featuring freshly baked hot spring bread, creamy Icelandic butter, boiled eggs, and traditional herring. Continue to the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every 5 to 7 minutes, then marvel at Gullfoss, the dramatic “Golden Waterfall.” Walk between continents at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in history and geology. Return to Reykjavík for a brief city tour of the world’s northernmost capital. (B/T/D)

Transfer to Keflavík International Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg, filled with unforgettable memories of Iceland. (B)
