Westminster Abbey: Behind the Scenes
On this exclusive verger-led tour, you’ll explore parts of Westminster Abbey not accessible to the public. Visit the Tomb of St. Edward the Confessor and walk through Poets’ Corner, where literary legends like Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling are honoured. Continue on to the royal tombs, the resting places of monarchs including Henry III and Elizabeth I. Marvel at the Lady Chapel’s intricate fan vaulting and stained-glass windows and stand in the nave where royal weddings and coronations have taken place for centuries. With expert commentary throughout, this is a rare, behind-the-scenes look at one of Britain’s most iconic and storied landmarks.

Day 1
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg on your overnight flight to London.
Day 2
London – Arrive at Heathrow Airport and meet your local guide and driver before transferring to your hotel. Enjoy time at leisure before your welcome dinner. (D)
Day 3
London – Take in the city’s iconic sights on a panoramic coach tour, with photo stops at landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Tower Bridge. Lunch is at a local restaurant, then explore at your leisure. (B/L)
Day 4
London – Experience a private tour of Kensington Palace, home to generations of royals. Walk through the historic apartments and stroll the peaceful palace gardens. A group lunch is followed by the remainder of the day on your own. (B/L)
Day 5
London – Relax in the morning before your Extraordinary Experience at Westminster Abbey. Your verger-led tour offers access to exclusive areas like Poets’ Corner, royal tombs and the stunning Lady Chapel. Then, indulge in a traditional afternoon tea at The Rubens at the Palace. (B/HT)
Day 6
London – Today is a free day followed by a private evening tour of the Tower of London. Led by a Yeoman Warder, enjoy rare access to the Crown Jewels without the crowds. (B)
Day 7
London – Today is yours to explore the city as you wish. Visit museums, stroll the Thames, shop in Covent Garden or take in a West End show. (B)
Day 8
London – Tour the Churchill War Rooms, followed by a free afternoon. This evening, savour a six-course farewell dinner aboard a luxury double-decker bus while passing London’s most iconic landmarks. (B/D)
Day 9
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. CAA Travel reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements (minimum number of participants) or circumstances beyond its control. Air schedules with some tours are not available at press time and may include several connections or forced overnight at passenger’s expense. Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

London
Today’s post-breakfast panoramic coach tour introduces you to the city’s most iconic sights, including Buckingham Palace, Green Park, Marble Arch, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, London Bridge and Tower Bridge—with photo stops along the way. Your tour ends with lunch at a local restaurant. The remainder of the day is free to explore London at your own pace. (B/L)

London
Start the day with breakfast at your hotel before joining a private tour of Kensington Palace, official residence of TRH The Prince and Princess of Wales and home to young royals for over 300 years. Walk through Queen Victoria’s reimagined childhood rooms and explore the magnificent King’s and Queen’s State Apartments. Cap off your visit with a stroll through Kensington Palace Gardens, a peaceful oasis bordering Hyde Park. Lunch with your group is included, followed by a free afternoon to explore more of London on your own. (B/L)

London
Enjoy breakfast and some free time before departing for your Extraordinary Experience: a verger-led tour of Westminster Abbey where you’ll visit exclusive areas not accessible to the public. See the Tomb of Edward the Confessor and Poets’ Corner, where many famous writers, poets and playwrights are laid to rest. Visit the royal tombs, the exquisite Lady Chapel and the impressive Gothic architecture of the nave. Learn the Abbey’s deep history through the verger’s expert commentary. Afterwards, savour a traditional afternoon high tea at The Rubens at the Palace. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B/HT)

London
Spend the morning and afternoon exploring London at your own pace before an unforgettable evening at the Tower of London. Led by a Yeoman Warder, also known as a Beefeater, this evening’s private Jewel House tour offers exclusive, after-hours access to the Crown Jewels, including the Imperial State Crown and the Sovereign’s Sceptre. After the tour, spend the remainder of your evening as you wish. (B)

London
Today is yours to wander the city on your own. Stroll the Thames River to admire the Tower Bridge and the Shard. Visit the world-class collections at the British Museum and the National Gallery. Shop the bustling streets of Covent Garden. For panoramic views, take a ride on the London Eye. In the evening, consider seeing a West End show or relaxing in a historic pub. (B)
Day 8
London
This morning, tour the Churchill War Rooms, the underground bunker that served as Britain’s wartime nerve centre. Explore Churchill’s office and the preserved Map Room, left exactly as it was in 1945. The afternoon is free to continue exploring the city, perhaps along the vibrant South Bank or through Notting Hill’s colourful streets. This evening, celebrate your journey with a farewell dinner aboard a luxury double-decker bus. Savour six sumptuous courses, expertly paired with fine wines, as you take in London’s iconic landmarks by night. This unique dining experience is a memorable way to cap off your time in London.
