Alec & I Interactive Exhibit
Step into the inspiring story of Alexander and Mabel Bell at the Alec & I experience, an engaging presentation at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Through photographs, personal artifacts and storytelling, discover how Mabel (who was deaf since childhood and fluent in several languages) was much more than Bell’s fiancée. Her unwavering support, sharp mind and financial backing were key to some of his greatest innovations. This powerful exhibit offers a closer look at their partnership, the challenges they faced and the love that fuelled their shared legacy.

Activity Level: Light. Discover iconic sights, seaside towns and rich cultural moments on this 8-day journey through Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Day 1
Halifax – Make your own way to Halifax to begin your East Coast adventure. After checking into the hotel, enjoy a relaxing evening at leisure to start your two-night stay.
Day 2
Halifax – Begin the day with breakfast overlooking the iconic lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove. Then travel to the UNESCO-listed of Lunenburg for a guided walking tour. Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic before returning to Halifax, with a photo stop in picturesque Mahone Bay along the way. (B)
Day 3
Charlottetown – Stop at the Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre to learn about the Mi’kmaq people, then cross the Confederation Bridge into Prince Edward Island for a two-night stay. This evening, enjoy a local performance at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. (B)
Day 4
Charlottetown – Take a guided walking tour of Charlottetown’s historic downtown before heading to Prince Edward Island National Park. Visit Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place, the beloved setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic books. Tonight, experience a traditional hall-style lobster supper. (B/D)
Day 5
Baddeck – Ferry back to Nova Scotia, then head to Cape Breton Island via the Canso Causeway. Cruise along Bras D’Or Lake on a scenic boat tour. (B)
Day 6
Baddeck – This morning, visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site and take part in the immersive Alex & I experience. Travel the legendary Cabot Trail through the highlands of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. After lunch, return to Baddeck. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Halifax – Stop for a visit to the Fortress of Louisburg National Historic Site – an impressive re-creation of part of the 1744 New France settlement. Spend your final night enjoying a special farewell group dinner. (B/D)
Day 8
Head home using your own pre-arranged transportation, taking with you cherished memories of your time in the Maritimes. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Soak up the charm of Charlottetown’s historic downtown on a guided walking tour before heading to the island’s scenic North Shore. Take in the views of red cliffs, white beaches, sand dunes and green fields as you pass through Prince Edward Island National Park. Visit Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place, the beloved setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic books. Tonight, experience true Maritime hospitality at a traditional hall-style lobster supper. (B/D)
Day 5
Baddeck
Ferry over the Northumberland Strait back to Nova Scotia and journey to Cape Breton Island via the Canso Causeway. Cruise along Bras D’Or Lake on a scenic boat tour before checking in to your accommodation for the next two nights. (B)
Day 6
Baddeck
This morning, visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site and take part in the immersive Alex & I experience. Then set off along the legendary Cabot Trail, winding past rocky coastlines and through the highlands of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Recognized by Condé Nast as one of the world’s most beautiful islands, Cape Breton will delight you with breathtaking views throughout the day. After a stop for lunch, return to Baddeck. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Halifax
On your way back to the mainland, stop for a visit to the Fortress of Louisburg National Historic Site – an impressive re-creation of part of the 1744 New France settlement. Return to Halifax for your final night and special farewell group dinner. (B/D)

Say goodbye and head home using your own pre-arranged transportation, taking with you cherished memories of your time in the Maritimes. (B)
