Day 1
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg on your overnight flight to Lisbon.
Day 2
Lisbon – Arrive and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure until your welcome dinner and fado show at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 3
Lisbon – See the monuments at Restauradores Square and Liberty Avenue, then visit Rossio Square and Alfama. Admire Lisbon Cathedral and St. George’s Castle, then visit the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte lookout. Visit Belém to see the Patrimony of Mankind Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and Monument to the Discoveries. Transfer back to your hotel. (B/T)
Day 4
Lisbon – Tour the beautiful town of Sintra, located next to the Sintra-Cascais
Natural Park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sintra is designated as a special “cultural landscape” to reflect both its natural riches and historic buildings. (B/L)
Day 5
Albufeira –After breakfast, depart to the Algarve, your home for the next five nights. (B)
Day 6
Albufeira – Today partake in your special culinary Extraordinary Experience, where you’ll learn to make an Algarve orange roll cake as well as traditional fig candies. (B)
Day 7
Albufeira – Enjoy the whole day to explore on your own. (B)
Day 8
Albufeira – Take a short tour through the historic town of São Bras de Alportel. Visit a cork museum and factory to learn how the transformation of cork takes place. Stop at the marina of Vilamoura, the largest in Europe, for a break with some free time. (B)
Day 9
Albufeira – Enjoy the full day at leisure to explore on your own. (B)
Day 10
Lisbon – Say goodbye to the Algarve and travel back to Lisbon. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel. (B/D)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 1

Day 2
Lisbon
Upon arrival, meet your tour director and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and fado show at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 3
Lisbon
See the monument to the fallen of WWI in Liberty Avenue, followed by a stop at Restauradores Square to see the monument dedicated to the restoration of Portugal’s independence in 1640. Visit the heart of the city, Rossio Square, then spend some time in Alfama, the Old Quarter. Admire the impressive Lisbon Cathedral, dating back to the 12th century. Take in views of St. George’s Castle, a Moorish fortification, while catching a stunning panorama over the city from the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte lookout. You will then depart to Belém, the city's most monumental and historical area where you will visit the Patrimony of Mankind Jerónimos Monastery, and Belém Tower. Visit the Monument to the Discoveries, celebrating the Portuguese who took part in the Age of Discovery. Your day will come to an end with a transfer back to your hotel. (B/T)

Lisbon
Tour the beautiful town of Sintra, located at the foot of the mountain range which is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Sintra’s unique characteristics led UNESCO to classify it as a World Heritage Site with a special "cultural landscape" designation to reflect its natural riches as well as the historic buildings in the town and mountains. Remains of human occupation during the Neolithic era and Bronze Age coexist here with palaces, mansions and farms which proliferated during the 19th and 20th centuries. Sintra's confectionery deserves a special mention, particularly the travesseiros (puff pastry stuffed with a sweet eggy mixture) and the famous cheesecakes, which according to ancient documents were already being made in the 12th century and were part of occupants’ rent payments. After breakfast, depart to the Algarve, your home for the next five nights. (B)

Albufeira
Today you’ll partake in a special culinary Extraordinary Experience where you’ll learn the secrets of making quintessential Portuguese desserts using locally grown fruits. An expert will guide you through the steps of making traditional fig candies, as well as a classic roll cake made with the famous Algarve orange, the star of this region’s desserts since the 18th century and beloved for its sweetness and beauty. Enjoy the whole day to explore on your own. (B)
Day 8
Albufeira
Take a short tour through the historic town of São Bras de Alportel. Visit the museum and view a short film presentation explaining the cork industry, followed by a visit to the factory where the transformation of cork takes place. Depart to the marina of Vilamoura, the largest in Europe, where you’ll stop for a break with some free time. (B)
